Q: What are the qualifications of the staff?

A: My name is Genia Sklute (known to the kids as "Dr. G") and I earned a PhD in Chemistry and have been teaching at various universities for twelve years. I also founded and directed two university Honors programs. Since 2018 I have been the co-owner and director of High Touch High Tech of Maine, engaging kids throughout Maine with hands-on science. I believe that each child strives in an environment that encourages inquiry and results in confidence and self-reliance. I strive to educate the whole child and encourage kids to see themselves as part of a larger community. During our time together, in addition to the support provided to school assigned work, we will read, dance, and do yoga and science together. Kids will also have free time for drawing/coloring/reading and other activities. I am looking forward to meeting your child!

Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Can I pay for a High Touch High Tech Afterschool Programs with grant dollars?
A: Yes. Many High Touch High Tech programs have been paid for with grant dollars received via the 21st Century Grant, Eisenhower Grant and several Local & State Grants.

Q: How should I set up my facility in preparation for the Scientist?
A: Our Scientists can conduct hands-on science programs where ever children are gathered and excited to learn! Participants will simply need a level surface on which to work (i.e. table top, floor space, etc.). Note that some programs may require access to water; therefore, access to a sink and tap would also be helpful.
